The reason why manufacturers selected a sound so high pitched that humans can’t hear it is so that you don’t have to put up with it in addition to the barking of your dog. Otherwise, it would be even more difficult to be in the presence of the dog.
The citronella bark collar is a very effective solution, specially if you consider its low cost in relationship with other, more expensive options.
