How to save money on your Dog Sitter services

Posted June 15th, 2009 by admin

In this day and age with the recession taking hold and everyone you know seems to be in fear of losing their jobs (including myself), I wondered if there was anyway that we could cut back on our monthly outgoings.

Now one major expense for us is our family dog, barnie. Of course we love him to bits and he is part of our family but equally, he takes a large amount of our family budget each month.

Some things we couldn’t cut back on, dog insurance, dog food etc but one area that stood out was the amount we paid when we had to leave Barnie with a dog sitter while we were away on a family outing, either for 2 weeks during the summer or for random days out.

2 weeks of care adds up to hundreds of dollars, not to mention the fact that I am never quite sure what the quality of care is like with the dog

So, I began to search for alternatives and after a bit of hunting around I stumbled across this alternative dog sitter site. It allows you to get in touch with other like minded dog owners and basically act as dog sitters for each other when needed. And best of all the membership cost was extremely low, although I suspect this will be for a limited time only.

I highly recommend that you try it out, we have met some great people through the site and actually have found someone perfect who is willing to take care of Barnie whenever we go away. In return we will look after their dog, perfect and no money has changed hands. In fact we no longer need the site in truth although there are other reasons for maintaining a membership if that is what you want with competitions and information provided.
